Diagnosis

Diagnosis of a scorpion sting is usually based on your history and symptoms. In cases with severe symptoms, your doctor may order blood or imaging tests to evaluate how the venom is affecting organs such as the liver, heart, lungs, and other systems.

Treatment

Most scorpion stings do not require medical treatment. If symptoms are severe, hospitalization may be necessary, and treatment may include:

• Intravenous medications to manage pain

• Scorpion anti-venom, which may be given to children to prevent symptoms

• Anti-venom for adults experiencing serious symptoms

Supportive care and monitoring are important to manage complications and ensure recovery.
